Jeep Patriot

JEEP PATRIOT. RUGGED GOOD LOOKS WITH OUTSTANDING FUEL ECONOMY AND COMFORT

The 2007 Jeep Patriot looks very similar to the Jeep Liberty since they are similar in size. However, the Jeep Patriot is actually a compact SUV that is built on the same platform as the Jeep Compass. The Patriot offers quite a few features including side curtain airbags, a 2.4 liter four cylinder engine, and even a stability system that is completely electronic. You may choose your Patriot with any one of three different drivetrains and rest assured if you are into off-roading. That is because the Patriot boasts a Trail Rated designation.

This simply means that the Patriot meets certain industry standards for ground clearance, traction as well as water fording. Since there are several Jeep vehicles that look similar including the Liberty, Compass, and Patriot the Patriot needed some defining features. One of those is the fact that each door has a real handle rather than hidden handles. In addition, the front fascia is more squared off while the vehicle looks more rugged than the other models.

The Patriot offers 172 horsepower , front wheel drive, manual windows, CVT, 2.4 liter, and more for a beginning price of $14,985. The price jumps up to $16,735 with the 172 horsepower, 2.4 liter engine and 4x4. The Patriot jumps again to $19,175 when the Freedom Drive II option is added. Overall these are still very affordable new vehicles. There are two different trim levels available. These include Limited and Sport. If you are interested in driving an all terrain Patriot that is rugged on the outside yet luxurious on the inside then you will spend about $25,000 and get a Patriot with outstanding audio and rear speakers that fold down, heated leather seats, and more.

The great thing about the Patriot is that it does not appear to be a vehicle that is capable of all the off road capabilities of the Patriot. However, looks can be deceiving and that is just what happens with the Patriot that is cute. Not to mention the body control and refined handling the Patriot offers. One of the drawbacks of the Patriot is that it is outfitted with the global 2.4 liter VVT four engine. It is not that this engine is awful it is just that it is not the best option.

When it comes to the trail rated Pilot you will see some amazing feats for a compact SUV. It boasts a 29 degree approach angle, ground clearance of nine inches, 23 degree breakover angle, and a 34 degree departure angle. It is amazing for a vehicle in this class to be capable of so much. Therefore, drive over all the rocks and rivers you like, the Patriot is ready for the ride. There are even raised vents and additional sealant in place to allow the Patriot water crossing capabilities up to 19 inches. There are skid plates and suspension arms that are super strong as well to help keep the underpinnings in great condition.

The reason Jeep brought the Patriot to the table, as well as the Compass, was simply to take part in the new compact SUV market. These vehicles are basically part SUV and part car and are gaining in popularity each and every year. Because of this Jeep had to offer at least one vehicle in their lineup and ended up offering two.

The reason people like the compact SUVs like the Patriot is because it offers so much. It is great with off-roading but in most cases people are just driving down the highway. For those folks who are simply driving their Patriot on the highways and byways they will notice that it offers a nice ride and the engine does a good job keeping up with what it is asked to do. The four wheel anti lock brakes work when you need them to as well.

Overall the Jeep Patriot is a great vehicle that really adds something to the compact SUV market that it was missing. Cherokee lovers will appreciate its style, car lovers will appreciate it’s comfortable interior, and off roaders will appreciate its ability to off road with the best of them!
